Reauthorization Bill - Conference Report
The conference committee has released their draft reauthorization bill and report.

The legislative text of the proposed bill is here:

And the text of the joint explanatory statement of the conferees is here:

Of course, this is not necessarily the final language. In addition, both the House and the Senate will need to pass this bill. And, the President will need to sign it.

The bill is 599 pages, so we have just started our analysis of it. It is not completed clear as yet how this bill will affect the National Scenic Byways Program. It does appear that no specific funding will be provided for the Program, and that only certain types of byway projects may be eligible under other funding programs. We will continue to examine the bill, and update you as more information becomes available.

Both the House and the Senate have now passed the reauthorization bill, and it is on its way for the President's signature.

Re: Reauthorization Bill - Conference Report
On Friday, the Congress passed and the President signed a one-week extension to SAFETEA-LU (through July 6). This extension provides time for the surface transportation conference report to be properly enrolled and presented to the President for signature later in the week.
